Schalke 04 see off a second-half Borussia Dortmund fightback to beat them 2-1.

Schalke 04 have seen off a disappointing Borussia Dortmund to take a 2-1 win in the Bundesliga.

The first real chance of the game fell to the visitors on 10 minutes and it was Mario Gotze whose shot was well blocked by the hosts' defence.

Just two minutes later it was Schalke who opened the scoring when Julian Draxler finished off a good move, the assist coming from Atsuto Uchida.

Roman Neustadter and Joel Matip both had opportunities to extend Schalke's lead but Dortmund were defending desperately.

In the 35th minute Uchida was again the creator, this time crossing for Klaas-Jan Huntelaar to double Schalke's advantage.

Despite Jakub Blaszczykowski setting up Robert Lewandowski for a second-half effort, Dortmund did not create enough and slumped to defeat.
