The hosts took the lead as Bastian Schweinsteiger struck from the penalty spot after Toni Kroos was brought down by Lucio.
Germany doubled their lead shortly after as Mario Gotze rounded Julio Cesar to slot home.
Brazil got themselves back into the game on 72 minutes when Robinho converted a penalty after Philip Lahm had fouled Dani Alves.
The home side regained their two-goal advantage when Andre Schurrle powered home from close range before Neymar found the net for Brazil in the dying minutes.
