Republic of Ireland to play France in friendly

Republic of Ireland will travel to Paris to play France at the end of May as part of the Euro 2016 finalists' preparations for the World Cup.

Republic of Ireland have agreed to play France in a friendly international at the end of the season.

After defeat to Denmark last month, Martin O'Neill's side have missed out on a place at next summer's World Cup, but the Green Army will still be in action in May.

The Stade de France in Paris will be the venue as the two nations lock horns on May 28 as France prepare for the tournament in Russia.

The last meeting between the teams came as recently as June 2016, when France ran out 2-1 winners in the second round at Euro 2016.

The clash will represent the 17th meeting between the sides, with the last of Ireland's four victories coming in a World Cup qualifier in 1981.
