Sam Vokes: 'Gareth Bale can cope with Real Madrid pressure'

Sam Vokes believes that his Wales teammate Gareth Bale is "strong enough to cope" with the pressure at Real Madrid.

Burnley striker Sam Vokes is confident that his Wales teammate Gareth Bale can "cope" with the pressure on his shoulders at Real Madrid.

The former Tottenham Hotspur star has come under fire from some supporters and one fan allegedly attacked his car following Sunday's 2-1 defeat to Barcelona.

"I'm sure he's strong enough to cope with that," BBC Sport quotes Vokes as saying.

This week, Bale has switched his focus to Wales' Euro 2016 qualifier against Israel, and Vokes is adamant that the 25-year-old will play a huge part.

"The performances he has been putting in have been fantastic, and hopefully he can carry on doing that and take us on," he added.

Wales are one point behind leaders Israel in Group B.
