Queens Park Rangers fall to West Bromwich Albion at home

A Robert Green howler sees Queens Park Rangers suffer a 2-1 defeat to West Bromwich Albion at home in the Premier League.

West Bromwich Albion have registered a 2-1 victory over Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road in the Premier League.

The visiting Baggies broke the deadlock in the 29th minute when skipper Chris Brunt was afforded too much time 30 yards from goal and his rising shot proved to be too powerful for Robert Green in the home net.

Steve Clarke's side almost doubled their advantage three minutes later, but James Morrison's lofted effort from the edge of the area just missed the target.

It took hosting QPR some time to play their way into the encounter, but when they did, they almost levelled proceedings with 38 minutes played. Adel Taarabt had the effort from distance, but his curling free kick went a couple of inches wide of the upright.

The Baggies doubled their advantage just five minutes into the second half when QPR goalkeeper Green palmed a ball into his own net.

QPR halved the deficit midway through the second half, as Djibril Cisse latched on to Stephane Mbia's through ball and shot home from close range.

That sparked Harry Redknapp's side into life as they pressed on for the equaliser for the remainder of the match, but in vain.
