Newcastle United, Norwich City relegated to Championship

Newcastle United and Norwich City are both relegated to the Championship after Sunderland's 3-0 win over Everton on Wednesday night.

Newcastle United and Norwich City have both been relegated to the Championship after Sunderland recorded a 3-0 victory over Everton at the Stadium of Light on Wednesday night.

Newcastle and Norwich both needed a favour from Everton to take the race to the final weekend of the season, but a comfortable night for the Black Cats saw Sam Allardyce's side secure survival.

Norwich kept to their end of the bargain and recorded a 4-2 win over Watford at Carrow Road, but they are still four points behind Sunderland with one game left.

Newcastle, meanwhile, have been punished for drawing 0-0 with basement side Aston Villa at the weekend and can now only reach 37 points when they end their season at home to Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend.

Newcastle are relegated to the Championship for the first time since 2009, but Norwich drop straight back down after being promoted last season.
