Marco Di Vaio scores brace in New England Revolution draw

Veteran Italian striker Marco Di Vaio scores twice for Montreal Impact, but they can only draw 2-2 with New England Revolution in their MLS clash.

Marco Di Vaio's brace wasn't enough to stop New England Revolution earning a 2-2 draw against the Montreal Impact.

The veteran Italian forward gave the hosts a perfect start on 12 minutes as he latched onto Calum Mallace's diagonal ball before slotting his shot to the right of a helpless Bobby Shuttleworth in the Revolution goal.

Kelyn Rowe equalised for New England soon after when he tucked a Charlie Davies cross beyond the reach of Evan Bush.

Montreal were back in front on 39 minutes when the ex-Serie A frontman was able to turn his marker and hit a low shot into the net for his eighth goal of the season.

In first half injury time, Dilly Duka almost gave Montreal a cushion when he collected Hassoun Camara's pass before curling an effort just beyond Shuttleworth's far post.

Within minutes of the restart, the Impact were again threatening to add to their tally as Justin Mapp brought a solid stop out of the New England keeper.

However, the visitors were back on terms on 69 minutes through Lee Nguyen, who bagged his 15th of the campaign.

Andres Romero almost snatched a late winner for the Canadians, but New England held on for a point to remain second in the Eastern Conference.
