Manchester United allegedly have no plans to sign either of Marcel Sabitzer or Wout Weghorst on permanent deals.

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has allegedly opted against signing Marcel Sabitzer or Wout Weghorst.

After a slow start to the season under the Dutchman, United have responded to win the EFL Cup, finish third in the Premier League and reach Saturday's FA Cup final.

Their efforts have been aided by the business that Ten Hag conducted in January, completing loan deals for Bayern Munich midfielder Sabitzer and Burnley forward Weghorst.

While neither player has always been provided with regular starts, they have each made notable contributions at important periods during the second half of the campaign.

Weghorst, who had been scoring freely during a similar spell at Besiktas before the switch to United, has chipped in with two strikes and three assists from 30 appearances, his notable efforts being part of an effective United press.

There had been more chance of United retaining the services of Sabitzer, despite the Austria international missing the closing weeks of the season due to a knee injury.

As many as 11 starts and seven substitute outings have been made in all competitions, his presence necessary due to suspensions handed to Casemiro and an injury to Christian Eriksen.

However, according to the Daily Mail, United will not attempt to negotiate permanent deals for either player.

Both players could theoretically return to the fold at their respective parent clubs, particular Sabitzer at a time when Bayern require different midfield options.

Ten Hag is said to value each player in their own right, there being an acknowledgement that they have brought value with each deal that was conducted in January.

Nevertheless, the report says that Ten Hag wants to upgrade in central midfield and attack, rendering the duo not required ahead of 2023-24.

United will assess their central midfield options but Chelsea's Mason Mount, who can operate in a three or as a number 10, is known to be on their radar.

With regards to attack, Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane and Napoli's Victor Osimhen seemingly top Ten Hag's shortlist, although it will prove difficult to get either player out of their respective clubs for differing reasons.
