Eric Harrison urges Manchester United to sign Luke Shaw, Ross Barkley

Luke Shaw and Ross Barkley would be positive additions to Manchester United, according to the club's former youth coach Eric Harrison.

Former Manchester United youth coach Eric Harrison has encouraged David Moyes to add Luke Shaw and Ross Barkley to his squad during the summer.

The duo have impressed for Southampton and Everton respectively this season, so much so that they have both been included in Roy Hodgson's senior England squad for tonight's friendly match against Denmark at Wembley.

With reports having suggested that Moyes will look to overhaul his options at the end of the season, Harrison believes that the young duo should be at the top of his wishlist.

Talking about 18-year-old Shaw, Harrison is quoted as saying by the Manchester Evening News: "I think he's already a fantastic footballer. He's a modern-day fullb-ack, he gets forward really well and causes havoc. He's going to be an incredible player and he could play for England for the next 10 to 15 years.

"I like Patrice Evra, but he's in his 30s now and if he wants to go to another club or retire then Shaw would be the perfect replacement."

Of Barkley, 20, Harrison added: "I've seen him play quite a lot and he's class, there's no question about that. I do wish that he would come to United.

"He would help the area where we are struggling a bit at the minute – the midfield. He will play for a top club definitely and I hope that club is United and I'm in no doubt that he will also be a superb player for his country."

United have also been linked with moves for Ilkay Gundogan, Toni Kroos and Matthias Ginter in recent weeks.
