Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal hands Bastian Schweinsteiger his first start for the club against Newcastle United.

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has given midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger his first start for the club against Newcastle United.

Schweinsteiger, who joined United from Bayern Munich during the summer, will partner Morgan Schneiderlin in the centre of midfield after replacing Michael Carrick.

As for Newcastle, Aleksandar Mitrovic has been handed his full debut after previously making two substitute appearances for the Magpies.

The Serbian has come in for Papiss Cisse, while Steven Taylor and Ayoze Perez have replaced Daryl Janmaat and Moussa Sissoko.

Winger Florian Thauvin, who has joined Newcastle from Marseille, is on the bench.
