Ashley Young: 'Champions League qualifcation in our hands'

Manchester United winger Ashley Young moves to remind his teammates that Champions League qualification remains in their own hands despite a third straight defeat.

Ashley Young has reminded his Manchester United teammates that their Champions League destiny remains very much in their own hands.

United succumbed to a third successive defeat in Saturday's shock 1-0 home loss to West Bromwich Albion to leave them four points clear of Liverpool in fifth.

With only nine points left to win this season, Louis van Gaal's side are still favourites to secure a top-four finish, and Young is confident that the Red Devils will reach the finish line regardless of the manner in which they do so.

"As players and staff, there's no doubt we can qualify for the Champions League and that was always what we wanted to do," he told MUTV.

"It's still in our hands and we have three massive games coming up. We have another tough game away to Palace next weekend and we want to get back to winning ways.

"We have the team spirit and character to bounce back from this defeat. We'll work again this week, prepare on the training pitch and hopefully things will go right next weekend."

United travel to Crystal Palace and Hull City either side of hosting Arsenal on the penultimate matchday of the season.
