Manchester City defender Kolo Toure has admitted that he knew that Christian Benteke would provide a tough test at Villa Park last night.
Toure kept the Belgian striker at bay as City ran out 1-0 winners against Aston Villa, thanks to a goal from Carlos Tevez.
Benteke has enjoyed an impressive debut season for Paul Lambert's side, with Toure praising the forward's physical style after playing against him for the first time.
The Ivorian has also vowed to perform when called upon by Roberto Mancini until the end of the season.
He told Sky Sports News: "[Benteke] is a great young striker and I knew it was going to be a big battle. I think all the team was defending well.
"We attacked together and that's the kind of spirit we need to have if we want to be one of the best clubs in the Premier League.
"I'm doing my best. I love football. Every time I have the chance to play I will give 100%, that's what I want to do every game."
City are 12 points behind league leaders Manchester United with 10 games left to play in the Premier League.
