Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne: 'No thoughts on quadruple'

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne reiterates that no-one at the Etihad Stadium is currently thinking about winning the quadruple.

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has insisted that he and his teammates are only focused on winning their next game, rather than anticipating success in different competitions.

Pep Guardiola and his first-team squad have frequently been quizzed on their chances of winning the quadruple, with the club sitting 12 points clear at the top of the Premier League table, already in the EFL Cup final and having progressed through to the last 32 and last 16 of the FA Cup and Champions League respectively.

However, De Bruyne has claimed that no-one is looking too far ahead, instead placing their full attention on Sunday's FA Cup tie at Cardiff City.

The 26-year-old is quoted by The Mirror as saying: "We are not thinking about [the quadruple]. Obviously we want to try it, because we want to win every game. But to win all four, it's a hard task. It's not like we're thinking ahead like we want to win all four.

"The [next] game that's coming, you want to win it. So now, Sunday is FA Cup against Cardiff and we want to win that game, and then it goes on.

"It's the positive thinking from game to game, that's better than to think two months ahead. You don't know what's going to happen."

Earlier this week, City announced that De Bruyne had penned a new long-term deal at the North-West outfit.
