Andrew Robertson heaps praise on teammate Roberto Firmino after the Brazilian inspired Liverpool to a 3-1 victory over Newcastle United in the Premier League.

Andrew Robertson has described the ability of Liverpool teammate Roberto Firmino as "frightening" after the Brazilian's performance against Newcastle United.

After representing his country earlier this week, Firmino was initially left on the bench by Jurgen Klopp, only for the attacker to be introduced during the first half as a result of an injury to Divock Origi.

However, the playmaker played a pivotal role in Liverpool's second and third goals as they registered a 3-1 triumph over the Magpies at Anfield.

The display has led to praise from Robertson, who had been left particularly impressed with Firmino's contribution for Mohamed Salah's strike in the second half.

The left-back is quoted by The Mirror as saying: "It was a special goal. Bobby's vision is frightening and Mo's finished it off. 3-1 after a tough international break is always a good result.

"We didn't start the game the way we wanted to and to be fair to Newcastle they started brightly and scored a hell of a goal. That gave us the wake up call we needed and afterwards I think we kicked into gear and were too good for them."

Liverpool hold a five-point advantage at the top of the Premier League standings after Manchester City lost out at Norwich City.
