Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain still has plenty of room for improvement following the midfielder's critical self-assessment.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain still has lots of room for improvement despite the midfielder's upturn in form in recent weeks.

Oxlade-Chamberlain was critical of his own performance during the recent 5-0 win over Swansea City on Boxing Day, despite capping off the rout with a well-taken fifth goal.

The 24-year-old has now started three of Liverpool's last five league games after initially struggling to break into the team, but Klopp wants to see more from the former Arsenal man.

"Ox is a smart player. He knew it was not even close to his best possible performance [against Swansea], but it's no problem, that's football," Klopp told the club's website.

"Ox needs to adapt to the position still, that's no problem. He has a lot of space for improvement. But it's nice to see that he is really working hard on it.

"He is a really hard-working boy and wants to improve. It's good that he knows he can do better now we have to work together on it so he can do better."

Liverpool are back in action again on Saturday when they host Leicester City.
