Jamie Carragher "gutted" by Luis Suarez's Liverpool exit

Jamie Carragher admits that he is "gutted" that Luis Suarez has left Liverpool to join Barcelona after three seasons at Anfield.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has admitted that he is "gutted" to see Luis Suarez leave Anfield, but believes that it was the "right time" for the controversial striker to go.

The 27-year-old has agreed to join Barcelona on a five-year contract in a deal which has been reported as being worth in between £64m and £75m.

Suarez is unlikely to feature for Barcelona in the early stages of the season as he is currently serving a four-month ban for biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup in Brazil.

Following the news of the forward's transfer, Carragher wrote on Twitter: "Luis was the best Lfc player I played with bar Gerrard. Gutted he's gone but was inevitable he would go to Spain one day.

"It was the right time for everyone he wanted to go we got a good price considering incident at WC."

Suarez, who spent three seasons at Liverpool, scored 31 Premier League goals in the 2013-14 campaign.
