The Egyptian FA confirms that Mohamed Salah has returned to Liverpool to undergo treatment on a muscular injury picked up in the 4-1 win over Swaziland on Friday.

Mohamed Salah has returned to Liverpool for treatment after picking up a muscular injury on international duty with Egypt.

The 26-year-old limped off the field late on in the first half of the Pharaohs' 4-1 win over Swaziland on Friday evening, shortly after netting directly from a corner.

Salah has already been ruled out of Tuesday's reverse meeting and, following talks between Egypt and Liverpool's medical departments, it has been decided that the former Roma ace will now continue his treatment on Merseyside.

A statement from the Egyptian FA read: "Javier Aguirre has allowed Salah to return to his club and he will not participate against Swaziland next Tuesday to give him time to recover.

"Mohamed Salah had complained during yesterday's match versus Swaziland about stress in his muscle. He was medically examined and underwent an X-ray post-game.

"Following communication with Liverpool's medical staff, it was determined the player would be unable to player in the next match."

Liverpool are back in action next Saturday with a Premier League trip to Huddersfield Town.
