Liverpool striker Danny Ings admits to getting "emotional" over video of support

Liverpool striker Danny Ings admits that he felt "incredibly emotional" when his teammates recorded a special message to help him through his injury woes.

Liverpool striker Danny Ings has admitted that he felt "incredibly emotional" watching a video of his teammates and club staff recording a message of support for him after his second major injury blow.

The 25-year-old damaged his anterior cruciate ligament last October during his first appearance at Anfield after recovering from the same injury that kept him out of action in the previous year.

Ings, who joined the Reds from Burnley in 2015, has recalled the moment when he and his girlfriend Georgia were left in an emotional state following the striker's operation 10 months ago.

"It was surprising, really. I had just come around from my operation and was sat there in hospital with my girlfriend," the Liverpool Echo quotes Ings as saying.

"I then got a message from one of our analysis guys and he said 'open this'. It was incredibly emotional. My girlfriend even burst into tears while she watched it. I have never experienced anything like it in my life before in terms of the support I received. It was unbelievable.

"To have a video like that from all of the players, the staff and even the canteen ladies, it just shows what this club is about and how supportive people are here.

"The video really, really inspired me to jump straight back into the gym as soon as I was able to, to graft as hard as I can and to do well for me on a personal level, but also to show everyone at Liverpool and all the fans I am still able to show them what I am about, and I will do everything I can to do that."

Ings has made just six league appearances for Liverpool since 2015.
