First meeting in the Second Division all the way back in 1895, Liverpool and Leicester City are now frequent foes in the Premier League and have crossed paths on 123 occasions in competitive matches.
Despite the current gulf in stature between the two clubs, the Reds only have 16 more wins than the 2015-16 Premier League champions in this fixture - 57 to 41 - while 25 stalemates have been played out over the years.
The more recent bragging rights have unsurprisingly belonged to Liverpool, though, as they are on a five-game winning streak against Leicester, whose last positive result in this head-to-head was a 1-0 home triumph in December 2021.
The Reds have since prevailed by an aggregate scoreline of 13-3 in their last five battles, four Premier League successes and a 3-1 triumph in the 2023-24 EFL Cup third round, Jurgen Klopp's last taste of football against the Foxes.
Defeating Leicester in the EFL Cup appears to be a good omen for Liverpool, who went on to win the 2023-24 edition after eliminating the Foxes and also took home the 2021-22 crown after seeing them off on penalties after a 3-3 spectacular.
While Leicester have got one over Liverpool a couple of times at the King Power Stadium, Anfield is not a happy hunting ground for the Foxes, who have failed to win any of their last 15 matches away to the Reds, losing each of their last seven.
Leicester's most recent success on Liverpool's patch came all the way back in May 2000, when Tony Cottee and Phil Gilchrist made the net bulge in a 2-0 win, also the last time that the Foxes stopped the current league leaders from scoring at Anfield.
That venue was the location of Mohamed Salah's 100th Premier League home goal on Boxing Day 2024, where the Egyptian completed a 3-1 comeback win after Jordan Ayew sent the Foxes into a shock lead.
A perennial enemy of Big Six clubs, Leicester legend Jamie Vardy tops the individual goalscoring charts in this fixture with 10 strikes against Liverpool, just one more than Ian Rush's nine versus the Foxes.
