Leicester City will be looking to set a new club record when they face Liverpool in the Premier League on Friday.

Leicester City will be looking to set a new club record when they meet Liverpool at Anfield on Friday evening.

The Foxes have endured a mixed Premier League campaign in 2022-23 and currently sit in 13th position in the standings with 17 points from 16 matches.

Although the East Midlands outfit have prevailed in four of their last six fixtures in the top flight, Brendan Rodgers's side were comfortably beaten by Newcastle United on Boxing Day.

Succumbing tamely to the Magpies has the potential to knock Leicester off track at a time when Rodgers will be hoping to move into the top half of the table.

Nevertheless, when Leicester take to the pitch on Merseyside on Friday, they have the opportunity to set a new club record.

Should Leicester record a surprise victory versus Liverpool and keep a clean sheet in the process, it will represent the first time that they have ever posted four wins and shutouts in successive league matches in their history.

Before the World Cup break, Rodgers watched his side record a 4-0 success at Wolverhampton Wanderers and 2-0 victories over each of Everton and West Ham United.

Leicester had suffered five league defeats in a row before their thumping win at Molineux, a result which was the second of five clean sheets kept in seven games.

However, Leicester travel to Anfield having failed to win any of their last 11 matches at Liverpool's home ground, losing nine of those fixtures.

Leicester have not recorded a top-flight win away at Liverpool since May 2000, when Tony Cottee and Phil Gilchrist both got on the scoresheet at the start of the first and second halves.
