How Juventus could line up against Atletico Madrid

Sports Mole looks at how Juventus could line up in Wednesday's Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid.

Juventus will travel to Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night for the first leg of their last-16 Champions League tie.

Juve are seen by many as the favourites to land the trophy this season, but the Serie A giants face a huge task to overcome Diego Simeone's stern Atletico team over two legs.

The Old Lady continue to dominate Italian football, but there is no question that the Champions League is the trophy that the club really want to win. They reached the final in both the 2014-15 and 2016-17 season, but lost to Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively.

Juve actually lost twice in the group stages of the competition, but a total of 12 points was enough for them to finish top of Group H ahead of Manchester United, who beat them in Turin.

Here, Sports Mole takes a look at how Juve could line up in the Spanish capital this week.

POSS JUVE XI vs. ATL

Out: Juan Cuadrado (knee)
Doubtful: Douglas Costa (thigh)

Juan Cuadrado was removed from Juve's Champions League squad after undergoing knee surgery in December, while Douglas Costa has not played since picking up a thigh injury earlier this month and is a huge doubt.

Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci will start as the two centre-backs, however, having both returned from injury in Friday's 3-0 win over Frosinone in Serie A.

Head coach Massimiliano Allegri has decisions to make in midfield with a number of players vying for three positions, but Miralem Pjanic and Blaise Matuidi are seen as certain starters.

Cristiano Ronaldo will be joined in attack by Paulo Dybala - linked with a move away from the club in recent weeks - and Mario Mandzukic, with the latter returning to the club that he represented during the 2014-15 campaign.

Ronaldo scored 22 goals in 31 games against Atletico during his time with Real Madrid, but the Portuguese has only managed one Champions League goal for Juve thus far.
