Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy insists angry fans will not force him to resign

Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy insists that protests from angry fans will not force him to resign.

Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy has insisted that he will not resign, despite some angry fans calling for him to walk away.

The Tractor Boys have picked up just one victory in eight games, and McCarthy was subjected to boos in Saturday's 2-2 draw with Rotherham United.

It looked as though Ipswich were staring at their sixth Championship defeat of the season, but David McGoldrick salvaged a point with a 95th-minute goal.

Despite the protests, McCarthy has no intention of stepping down. He told BBC Radio Suffolk: "Unless they can convince [the chairman] Marcus Evans to sack me, I'm not going anywhere. You'd be very surprised if I said 'I'm a little bit sick of that I'm going to do one', I'm not.

"The supporters carry a lot of weight, and people coming to watch want to see better football and better results. But I'm going to stay round here and try to make that happen. I'm certainly not going anywhere of my own volition."

Ipswich are currently 16th in the league table.
