Former Bluebird Michael Chopra scores one of the goals as Ipswich record four successive league wins for the first time since 2004.

Ipswich Town have recorded four successive league wins for the first time in over seven years with a 3-0 triumph over Cardiff this afternoon.

The visitors, who were looking to close the gap on the Championship's top two, began the stronger but were unable to go ahead in the early stages and were punished after 21 minutes.

Ipswich took the lead midway through the half when Daryl Murphy found Lee Martin at the second attempt and the former Manchester United man sidefooted past David Marshall.

Following the goal, the Tractor Boys began to assert their authority on proceedings and Martin could have doubled the lead soon after.

The home side continued their dominance in the opening minutes of the second 45 and former Bluebird Michael Chopra made it two three minutes after the interval.

Carlos Edwards made space down the right and delivered an accurate cross which Chopra fired home.

The Tractor Boys sealed the win again through Martin who, in similar fashion to the first, finished off after good work from Murphy.

Three points for Ipswich sees them reach 40 points and climb a place to 16th, while Cardiff remain fifth but are now six points off the top.
