Ian Marshall: 'Goals will come for Ipswich Town's Daryl Murphy'

Ian Marshall believes that it is only a matter of time before Daryl Murphy ends his barren spell in an Ipswich Town shirt.

Former Ipswich Town striker Ian Marshall has backed Daryl Murphy to end his ongoing goalscoring drought.

The 32-year-old was the Championship's leading goalscorer last term thanks to his 27-goal haul.

However, Murphy is yet to get off the mark this term, while fellow Ipswich forwards Freddie Sears, Brett Pitman and David McGoldrick have found the net 10 times between them.

Despite the barren spell, Marshall has insisted that it is only a matter of time before the Irishman gets himself back on the goal trail.

"The more you don't score, the more frustrating it becomes," he told the East Anglian Daily Times.

"The good thing about Daryl is he is getting in the right positions and getting chances. The time to worry as a striker is when you are not getting a sniff of goal, so I think it will come.

"Unfortunately, strikers are judged on how many goals they score, but he is a decent player who had a really good season last time out."

Next up for the Tractor Boys is a trip to Blackburn Rovers on Saturday afternoon.
