Rafael van der Vaart targets improvement

Rafael van der Vaart admits that he must improve next season.

Hamburg midfielder Rafael van der Vaart has admitted that he must improve in the 2013-14 season after a somewhat disappointing return to the club.

Van der Vaart scored just five goals as Hamburg failed to qualify for Europe but he has vowed to score 10 or more next term.

"I can understand everybody who is not happy with me because I'm not happy either," he told Bild.

"I need to play better and I would like to score more than 10 goals next season."

Van der Vaart joined Hamburg last summer from Tottenham Hotspur.
