Kit Symons blasts "awful" Fulham

Kit Symons says that an "awful" first-half performance from Fulham in their 1-1 draw with Rotherham has them "limping" to safety in the Championship.

Fulham boss Kit Symons has said that an "awful" first-half display undermined his side's effort in their 1-1 draw with Rotherham United.

Matt Derbyshire fired the Millers into a 1-0 half-time lead in a crucial relegation six-pointer at Craven Cottage last night.

Ross McCormack grabbed a controversial equaliser on 67 minutes to earn a point that keeps the Cottagers seven clear of the danger zone, and Symons says that his troops are "limping" to safety.

"In the first half we were awful," he told Sky Sports News. "In the second there was an improvement, and we were a bit better than awful.

"We were very nervous, it's an anxious time for the football club. But you have to deal with the situation and we didn't do that.

"There is still a bit to do, but we are limping closer. We'd liked to have sprinted over the line but it doesn't look like it's going to be like that."

The Londoners travel to already-relegated Blackpool on Saturday.
