Fleetwood Town midfielder Gareth Evans hopes he can hit the goal trail after opening his account at the weekend.

Fleetwood Town midfielder Gareth Evans has admitted his delight after opening his account for the club at the weekend.

The 24-year-old scored in the 2-1 win over Dagenham & Redbridge, a result that moved them to within three points of the playoff positions.

He told the club's official website: "It is a bit overdue if I am honest. I have been a bit unlucky not to score up to now but I am finally glad to get my name on the scoresheet and hopefully get a few more between now and the end of the season."

Evans has previously played for Rotherham United.
