Everton manager Roberto Martinez unsure over Tom Cleverley injury

Roberto Martinez says that he is hopeful over Everton midfielder Tom Cleverley's injury, but confirmed that it could be ligament-related.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has revealed that he is optimistic over the injury sustained by Tom Cleverley in tonight's 0-0 draw at Tottenham Hotspur.

Play was halted for five minutes at White Hart Lane as the midfielder received treatment after appearing to twist his ankle following a challenge from Eric Dier.

"Hopefully it is not too serious," the Spanish manager told BT Sport.

"The doctor is a little bit more positive. We think it is ligament damage but we hope it is a relatively minor injury."

The 26-year-old only joined the Toffees this summer on a Bosman following the expiration of his Manchester United contract.
