Monaco are keeping an eye on David Luiz's situation at Chelsea and would be open to making an offer should he be put up for sale, according to a report.

Monaco have begun monitoring Chelsea defender David Luiz and would be open to making an offer should the Brazilian be put up for sale, according to a report.

Earlier in the campaign, Luiz was left out of Antonio Conte's squad due to an alleged disagreement in training, though the player has also been suffering with an ongoing knee problem.

Luiz has not featured for Chelsea since February 5 and has played just 17 times this season, with Andreas Christensen taking the 31-year-old's place in the Blues backline.

According to Goal.com, Luiz's future will depend a lot on Conte and whether he remains at the club, with the player likely to seek a departure should the Italian coach remain in charge at Stamford Bridge.

The report also claims that former Chelsea technical director Michael Emenalo, now at Monaco, will use his links with his former club to help spearhead his new employers' bid to recruit the Selecao defender.

Chelsea re-signed Luiz from Paris Saint-Germain for £32m on transfer deadline day in August 2016.
