Atletico Madrid are reportedly increasingly confident of signing wantaway Chelsea full-back Marcos Alonso as a replacement for Lucas Hernandez this summer.

Atletico Madrid are reportedly confident of signing Chelsea full-back Marcos Alonso this summer.

The 28-year-old is understood to want to leave Stamford Bridge during the current transfer window, having found himself in and out of the team last season.

Atletico are interested in signing a new left-back, with Lucas Hernandez joining Bayern Munich and Filipe Luis also expected to depart.

Recent reports have suggested that Alonso has earmarked Atletico as his preferred destination, and The Mirror reports that the Spanish giants are increasingly confident of bringing him to the Wanda Metropolitano.

The Spain international flew out to Madrid last week, two days after missing out on a place in Chelsea's Europa League triumph over Arsenal.

Alonso joined Chelsea in 2016 and has gone on to make 120 first-team appearances for the club, scoring 18 goals.
