Charlton Athletic defender Roger Johnson has revealed that he played through the pain of a broken rib during his Addicks debut at the weekend.
Johnson, who signed for the club on a short-term deal earlier this month, came in for his full debut and helped Charlton beat Brentford 3-0 for their first win in 15 games.
However, his afternoon was made difficult when he suffered the rib injury in the first half when two of the hosts' players had already gone off injured.
Johnson told the club website that he "cracked on" after receiving an injection in his buttocks.
"I cracked a rib, I've done it before so I know the pain and I was struggling a bit," he said.
"But we had the two lads go off so I couldn't make it three in the first half.
"I don't like to go off unless it's a broken limb so I wanted to carry on. I had one injection in the ribs at half time and one in the backside and just cracked on."
Victory saw Charlton move up to 18th in the table, six points clear of the drop zone.
