Scott Sinclair expects Celtic to match their feat of 2016-17 by again remaining unbeaten next season, having strengthened the squad with the addition of Jonny Hayes.

Celtic winger Scott Sinclair has insisted that his side are "much stronger" than last season and can match their unbeaten run in 2017-18.

The Bhoys went the duration of the previous domestic campaign without losing a game, dropping just eight points on their way to winning the Scottish Premiership and also lifting both cups.

Celtic have lost Patrick Roberts to parent club Manchester City after an 18-month loan spell, but Jonny Hayes has joined from closest challengers Aberdeen and Sinclair believes that building on last season now has to be the target.

"I'd like to think so," he told reporters when asked if his side can repeat the feat. "I think everyone will try to beat us. Because we went unbeaten last year, everyone will be coming out the blocks and ready to stop our unbeaten run.

"But I think we're much stronger. Last season, game by game we improved dramatically from the start to finish. We started off very well and we finished off even stronger. I'm sure [last season's runners-up] Aberdeen will be up there and I'm sure every team will be trying to win."

Celtic's players are back in training ahead of their Champions League qualifiers, which will see them face either Linfield or La Fiorita in three weeks' time.
