Good evening! Group B at the Africa Cup of Nations comes to a conclusion today, with Zambia facing Cape Verde for a place in the last eight. Let's start with a look at the team news...

CAPE VERDE STARTING XI: Dias, Varela, Carlos Tavares, Ianique Tavares, Barros, Monteiro, Rocha, Lima, Ramos, Rodrigues, Mendes

ZAMBIA STARTING XI: Mweene, Sunzu, Nkausu, Munthali, Mtonga, Mbola, Kalaba, Lungu, Musonda, Singuluma, Kangwa

Southampton striker Emmanuel Mayuka misses out for Zambia. He suffered a groin injury in their last match against Tunisia, and underwent a late fitness test, but he has been ruled out of the match for the 2012 champions.

Striker Heldon Ramos has scored Cape Verde's only goal of the tournament, netting a penalty against Tunisia, and he captains the side for this evening's tie as Elvis Macedo drops to the bench.

All four teams in Group B will be simultaneously in action this evening, with Congo DR and Tunisia kicking off at the same time. You can follow live coverage of the other tie here. Tunisia are in pole position going onto this evening with four points from their first two matches, while Cape Verde and Congo DR are both on two. Zambia have picked up just a single point so far though, so have it all to do tonight if they want to progress.

Cape Verde have been something of a draw specialist in their six previous matches in the Africa Cup of Nations. They've drawn four times, won once, and been beaten once.

Zambia have been on a poor run since lifted the cup last time Equatorial Guinea hosted the competition. They've drawn five times since the 2012 final, and suffered a defeat to Tunisia last week. In 22 shots so far at this year's tournament, they've scored just twice.

These two sides have never faced each other until qualifying for this event. They each won their home matches in qualifying, so this will be their first meeting on neutral ground.

The players make their way out ready for kickoff out a rather rainy Estadio de Ebebiyin. As always, the national anthems from both countries will be played ahead of kickoff.

Coming into this match, Zambia coach Honour Janza has said that he is expecting a "difficult fixture" against a strong Cape Verde side. Meanwhile, his opposite number, Rui Aguas, believes that reaching the last eight is the "minimum objective" for his side.

PREDICTION! Just before the match gets underway, there's time for a quick prediction. Neither side has really peaked in their opening two matches, but Cape Verde have struggled for goals. I think this could be a slender 1-0 win for the 2012 champions.

KICKOFF! Zambia get the match underway.

CHANCE! There's an early opportunity for Cape Verde as Rodrigues in brought down around 30 yards out. The ball is curled in towards Fernando Varela, but his header goes behind without troubling the keeper.

CHANCE! Both sides have made attacking starts to this match as a long ball forward from Emmanuel Mbola falls to Evans Kangwa on the edge of the box, but his toe-poke is easily punched clear by Josimar Diaz Vozinha, while Kalaba's rebound goes behind.

There's a worrying moment for Kennedy Mweene as he comes off his line to clear what looks like being a fairly straight-forward ball into the box from Calu, but he doesn't get his glove cleanly to it, and it bobbles behind him, but Davies Nkausu is there to spare his blushes.

It's good to see both sides on the attack early. Zambia have to go for it if they want to reach the last eight, but Cape Verde know that a point will be enough as things stand, but they clearly want to make a statement, which bodes well for those of us hoping for an action-packed 90 minutes.

Zambia try to catch Cape Verde out with a quick break, but Lubamba Musonda sends a high ball forward too soon, and none of his teammates are in the box ready to try and tap it in, leaving his delivery to go harmlessly behind for a corner.

CHANCE! Cape Verde quickly break down the other end, with Heldon making a superb charge down the left flank. He looks to see Rodrigues and Mendes in t the box, but his cross is too far ahead of the strike duo, leaving Mweene to gather the ball.

Cape Verde are enjoying a decent spell of pressure as they patiently pass the ball around on the edge of the box, but Stopira's delivery towards Mendes is quickly cleared.

CHANCE! There's all sorts of drama in the Cape Verde penalty area as Vozinha spills a shot from the edge of the box by Kangwa, who follows his shot in to try and turn in the rebound, with the keeper still down. Varela is back on the line to make the block, but it appears to strike his hand on the way through, leaving the Zambia man screaming for a spot kick. However, the striker was flagged for offside, which is bizarre since the ball came back off the keeper, and he appeared to be well on while the initial effort was taken.

A rash challenge on Heldon gives Cape Verde a free kick directly in line with the goal around 35 yards out. Mweene screams directions at his wall, but it works as the delivery from Rocha is easily blocked by the Zambia defenders.

There have been some odd offside calls so far, and another one costs Zambia what could have been a decent opportunity. Singuluma threads it through for Kalaba, but the referee rules the striker offside, even though the assistant hadn't raised his flag. Incidentally, a clap of thunder fills the stadium as the ball is played in. Should there be any lightning, the referee will be forced to take the players off for safety reasons.

CHANCE! Kalaba gets his shot away this time as Singuluma plays him in again. The Zambia captain's low drive is deflected behind for a corner though, but the 2012 champions can't make the most of it.

There's an injury concern for Cape Verde as Toni Varela is down injured, but it doesn't seem to be a big concern. In fact, it looks like he just had his hand stood on by Kalaba.

Cape Verde have a free kick in a strong position, but Calu's ball into the box has just a little too much on it for Gege to nod in.

UPDATE: In the other Group B match, Akaichi as given Tunisia a 1-0 lead. That's good news for Zambia if they can get a goal.

BOOKING! Carlitos picks up the first yellow card of the match for bringing down Kalaba right on the edge of the box. The resulting free kick is poor though, and the captain fires it straight into the wall.

Garry Rodrigues makes an amazing run on the counter-attack, picking up the ball in midfield before looking to get a cross in for Mendes, but Sunzu did just enough to force the striker to turn it behind. Zambia immediately press down the other end and force a throw in near the corner, but they can't make the most of it.

Zambia have certainly had more possession in the last five minutes or so, but they really haven't created much with it, and they look vulnerable at the back when Cape Verde get forward. Cape Verde have a big back four, and the pacy but shorter Zambia strikers can't find a way past at the moment.

Offsides continue to be a problem for Zambia, and this time they are genuinely offside. Rainford Kalaba tries to find Singuluma, but the defender is a little too keen to get forward, while Evans Kangwa drifts ahead moments later.

Zambia have another free kick in a promising position as Mtonga is brought down 20 yards out. Kalaba's effort curls around the wall, but is straight at the keeper, who punches it clear with ease.

CHANCE! Toni Varela is left with a free header on goal as Munthali loses the midfielder while defending a free kick, but his header lacks power, allowing Mweene to clear, before chastising his defenders for leaving the dangerous midfielder open.

BOOKING! Another error by Christopher Munthali proves costly as he bring down Heldon near the sideline around 25 yards out. The booking means he'll miss the quarter-finals if Zambia progress. It also gives Cape Verde a chance just before the break.

CHANCE! Cape Verde probably have their best chance of the match so far right on the cusp of the break as Rodrigues's free kick is sent in low, but neither Heldon nor Mendes could quite stretch far enough to tap it in.

So at the break it's still all square in the final Group B match between Cape Verde and Zambia. With Tunisia beating Congo DR in the other match, Cape Verde and Tunisia will be progressing as things stand, but that could easily all change after the break.

Let's take a look at some of the numbers from the first half. Cape Verde just edged the possession with 54%. Zambia had more shots though, with seven to Cape Verde's five. Cape Verde haven't had a shot on target yet, while Zambia have tested the keeper twice. It's discipline that has stopped Zambia really taking control so far, they've conceded 14 fouls to Cape Verde's three.

The heavy rain falling at the stadium has been something of an issue. The players have been losing their footing quite a bit, and it was feared at one point that the players might have to be taken off as a thunderstorm passed overhead. While the showers continue to pour down, it does appear the rumbling has stopped for now, so hopefully the second half can be completed uninterrupted.

The players are making their way back out ready for the second half in absolutely torrential conditions.

KICKOFF! Cape Verde get the second half underway.

There's a running track around the edge of the pitch in this stadium, and it's starting to flood as the rain continues to pour. The ball is still moving around quite well, but there are patches of water starting to form.

Heldon makes a run toward the Zambia goal, but the ball hits a patch of water and loses its momentum. Carlitos tries a long ball in for the striker through the air to avoid the sodden pitch, but Heldon is offside.

The thunder is back around the ground and the pitch is getting ever more waterlogged. Both teams are trying to create something, but the conditions are making things impossible.

CHANCE! Cape Verde win a corner as Heldon is tripped. Rodrigues curls it in, and Mweene watches it all the way, but his gloves and the ball are that wet that it slips straight through his fingertips, but he manages to gather it at the second time of asking and get it clear.

SUB! Cape Verde are making a change, sending Djaniny on in place of Ryan Mendes.

SUB! Zambia are make their first substitution, replacing Christopher Munthali with Donashano Malama.

Djaniny tries to have an immediate impact, breaking down the left wing before looking to get a cross in towards Rodrigues, but he's caught out by a damp patch and it goes behind.

Mercifully, it does look like the rain is starting to ease. Zambia try to push down towards the Cape Verde goal, but Rodrigues does enough to force it out for Cape Verde. There have been very few chances since the restart as both teams are struggling to pass it around. They've not tried to many high balls forward, which may be their best chance if the rain continues.

Djaniny has a through-ball turned behind by the keeper for a corner, but Zambia's right corner is one of the wettest parts of the pitch, and Calu struggles to curl it in, scuffing it into the box to give Mweene an easy stop.

UPDATE: While the players struggle in this game, there's been a second goal in the other Group B game, and Congo DR have equalised. That makes it tight, as there could be three teams on three points as things stand.

Rodrigues tees the ball up for Djaniny on the edge of the box, but he comes under pressure in the area and goes down a little too easily while looking for the spot kick.

SUB! Zambia make another change, bringing on 17-year-old striker Patrick Ngoma for Lubamba Musonda.

SUB! Odair Fortes takes the place of Toni Varela in midfield as Cape Verde push for the goal that they now need to send them through.

CHANCE! Fortes almost has an immediate impact as Djaniny flicks the ball forward for the midfielder, but his tap towards the goal is saved by Mweene.

BOOKING! Down the other end, Gege appears to catch Kangwa while the striker looks for a path through on goal, but there was very little contact, and the forward ends up going in the book for his excessive appeals for a penalty.

CHANCE! What a chance for Zambia as Lungu crosses it in superbly for Kangwa, who only has to turn it in from a couple of yards out, but his touch is just wide of the left post. Could that be the best chance they will get? Given what we've seen so far in the second half, it may very well be.

Down the other end, Cape Verde continue to create half-chances, but they've not really stretched Mweene too much in this second half, aside from during the heaviest spell of rain. Fortes breaks into the box, but a high ball in for the substitute has too much on it, and is claimed by the keeper before Fortes can get the shot away.

SUB! Zambia make one final change as they push for the goal that would send them through. Given Singuluma comes off for the slightly more attacking Mukuka Mulenga.

Kuca weaves his way into the box, beating three defenders as he tries to create a chance for Cape Verde, but Sunzu eventually makes to block for Zambia.

So as things stand, both of these two sides will be going out. Cape Verde, Congo DR and Tunisia will all end on three point, but the other two sides have scored more goal, so they'll progress at the expense of Cape Verde, while Zambia will have just two points. That would all change with a late goal though.

CHANCE! Rainford Kalaba tries his luck from range with a powerful effort from 25 yards, but it's at a nice height for Vozinha to make the save.

Cape Verde immediately press down the other end and force a free kick in a dangerous position. Rodrigues sends up in high, but Fernando Varela drifts offside, wasting what looked like a tricky ball in for the Zambia defenders to deal with.

Fortes looks for Heldon, but the striker is clattered into on the edge of the box at the start of three minutes of stoppage time to give Cape Verde another free kick. Their set pieces haven't been great today though.

CHANCE! Heldon tries to fire it in low, but the wall doesn't jump so it's blocked. Calu was waiting for the rebound, but he can't find a way through to the keeper either.

CHANCE! What a moment or Zambia, they force a save from Vozinha before Mukuka tries to turn in the rebound, but he slices it just inches wide of the post.

Well neither side managed to get the all important goal in a lively stoppage time. The other Group B match finishes moments later, confirming that Cape Verde and Zambia are both eliminated from the competition. Both sets of players slump to the pitch in disappointment.

The conditions in the second half certainly played a part. Neither side could move the ball around, but they didn't take too many chances through the air either. If it hadn't been the final day of the group, you have to wonder if the match would have reached full time though.
