Thiago Alcantara completes his transfer from Barcelona to Bayern Munich, ending Manchester United's hopes of signing the midfielder.

Thiago Alcantara has completed his transfer from Barcelona to Bayern Munich.

The 22-year-old midfielder was heavily linked with Manchester United, but recent reports of a move to reunite with former coach Pep Guardiola at Bayern intensified over the last week.

The move has now been confirmed by the German champions in a deal believed to be in the €20m (£17.3m) region and could rise to about €25m (£21.6m) with add-ons.

As part of the deal, the two clubs will also play a friendly in the next four years.
