FA Cup roundup: Barnsley ease past Chester to confirm place in third round

Sports Mole rounds up all of the action in the FA Cup as Barnsley ease past Chester to reach the third round of the tournament.

Barnsley have cemented a place in the third round of the FA Cup after they eased to a 3-0 away victory over home side Chester on a night which played host to six second-round replays.

The visitors grabbed their opener after 16 minutes when Kane Hemmings lashed home from the centre of the box, before two goals from Dale Jennings sealed progression in the second half.

Elsewhere, Yeovil Town left it late to get a result at home to Accrington Stanley, with Simon Gillett and Kieffer Moore grabbing last-gasp goals to secure a third-round meeting with giants Manchester United.

League Two side Luton Town were the victors at home as they scraped past away side Bury with a 1-0 win at Kenilworth Road, thanks to Luke Rooney's effort from distance that somehow beat Shwan Jalal from an improbable angle.

Tranmere also made safe passage into the third round, but it wasn't the easiest of nights at Prenton Park, as Micky Adams and his men had to rely on goals from Kayode Odejayi and Max Power to cancel out an opener from Alfie Potter to seal a 2-1 win over Oxford United.

Matt Done was the hero for Rochdale as he grabbed a hat-trick to see them past Aldershot Town with a 4-1 victory at Spotland, while visitors Cambridge profited from an early goal from Sullay Kaikai to edge past Mansfield Town with a 1-0 win.

Full results: Chester 0-3 Barnsley, Luton 1-0 Bury, Mansfield 0-1 Cambridge, Rochdale 4-1 Aldershot, Tranmere 2-1 Oxford Utd, Yeovil 2-0 Accrington
