Barcelona: 'Still no Neymar talks'

Neymar is yet to begin talks with Barcelona over a new and improved contract, according to the Catalan club's vice president Jordi Mestre.

Barcelona vice president Jordi Mestre has revealed that there have not yet been any contract talks with Brazilian forward Neymar.

The 23-year-old is still on the five-year deal that he signed with the Catalan club upon joining from Santos in the summer of 2013.

Talk of interest from Manchester United was believed to have accelerated contract talks, with the Brazilian demanding a rise in basic salary, in addition to a package that would put him closer to Lionel Messi in the earning stakes.

However, Mestre has said that, as it stands, there have been no talks.

"We haven't discussed anything with Neymar yet, neither is there anything official on the table, nor has there been any formal conversations," he told Mundo Deportivo.

Respected Spanish journalist Guillem Balague, who has ties with Barcelona, has hinted that Neymar could look to leave Camp Nou in the near future.
