Ivan Rakitic: 'Barcelona training a big step up'

Barcelona playmaker Ivan Rakitic describes a big step up in class at training since completing his move from Sevilla.

New Barcelona signing Ivan Rakitic has described the step up in the intensity of training since his move from Sevilla.

The Croatian playmaker made the switch earlier this summer, and he admitted that it has been a big learning curve during his first few weeks.

He told reporters: "The feelings I have at Barcelona is very good. I'm learning that at Barcelona it all goes a bit faster and it is very intense. You have to work very hard. It is no wonder why the players here are of great quality.

"I've already faced all my teammates [while at Sevilla], but now I'm enjoying training with them every day.

"The intensity here is higher here and at Barcelona the training is much more demanding. But I do think it has some similarity to Sevilla as there is a similar mindset – neither club likes to lose anything, ever."

Rakitic signed for a fee believed to be around £15m.
