Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has said that departing club captain Xavi deserved to go out on a high with success in the Champions League final.
The Spanish midfielder made his 767th and final appearance for the club as a substitute in this evening's showpiece, which Barca went on to win 3-1 against Juventus to clinch the treble.
Xavi is due to move to Al-Sadd this summer, and Pique praised the "legacy" that the playmaker will leave at the club, as well as on football as a whole.
"Xavi deserves this. He leaves an important legacy about how football should be played," he told reporters.
Xavi himself acknowledged that victory in Berlin was the "perfect" way to say goodbye.
