Kevin Gameiro departs Sevilla to join Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid announce that they have signed Sevilla striker Kevin Gameiro on a four-year deal.

Atletico Madrid have strengthened their striking department with the signing of Sevilla forward Kevin Gameiro.

Gameiro had previously been linked with a switch to Barcelona but their La Liga rivals have announced that they have completed the transfer of the 29-year-old on a four-year deal.

Last year's Champions League runners-up have not disclosed the fee but it has been widely reported that they have paid €32m (£27m) for the French international.

The transfer is dependent on Gameiro successfully completing a medical at Vicente Calderon but should the move be confirmed, the player will compete with Antoine Griezmann and Fernando Torres for a starting role in attack.

Gameiro scored 66 goals in all competitions during his three years at Sevilla.
