Molde boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admits that he is flattered to have been considered for the Aston Villa job.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted that he is flattered to have been considered for the managerial vacancy at Aston Villa.

The former Manchester United striker held discussions with Villa's owner Randy Lerner last week over a potential switch from current club Molde to Villa.

While the Norwegian does not believe that he should be considered a leading candidate, Solskjaer has conceded that he is pleased to have been noticed.

"It is always flattering. When I was a footballer and United wanted to buy me I was flattered," he told Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet. "Players want to be on the highest possible level and it's the same with me as manager.

"It may well be that two, three names will sound more interesting than mine and then maybe the mood turns.

"I do not know who they are considering and what they are going to do. I do not go and check the phone to see if they have called me. They will take the time they need."

Solskjaer is currently the favourite with the bookmakers to be given the job.
