Lukaku: 'Thierry Henry is very demanding'

Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku reveals that coach Thierry Henry is "very demanding" in training, but credits the Arsenal legend for making him a better player.

Everton and Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku has admitted that it is "not easy" training with Thierry Henry due to the former Arsenal man's demanding nature.

Henry is currently part of Roberto Martinez's coaching set-up with Belgium having been appointed by the Spaniard despite never coaching at senior level before.

Lukaku has given an insight into the former France international's style, but believes that Henry is helping to improve his game and hopes one day to emulate the Arsenal legend's achievements.

"It's not easy with him, he's very demanding. I hadn't experienced that before. Even when I make a good pass, if the ball bobbles a little bit, he pulls me up on it. I think he sees in me characteristics he also had when he was younger," he told SFR Sport.

"That's why he's so intransigent with me. Thanks to him, I'm more intelligent in my movement, and so I'm caught offside less. He's also teaching me things about finishing, controlling the ball and how I see the game.

"Back in the day, he made 10 assists a season, I'd like to emulate him."

Lukaku has scored 17 goals in 52 appearances for Belgium heading into Sunday's World Cup qualifier against Estonia.
