Ivan Gazidis: 'We have transformed Arsenal squad'

Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis claims that the club have invested heavily into improving the playing squad over the past few years.

Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis has claimed that the club have vastly improved the playing squad over the past few seasons.

The Gunners have been accused of a lack of spending big on proven world-class talents, although they have forked out over £80m to bring the likes of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez to the Emirates Stadium in the last two years.

Gazidis has claimed that the money invested in players has shown that the Arsenal hierarchy are dedicated to improving the team's chances of winning trophies.

"The last few years, we have transformed and rejuvenated the squad. We have young talented players and a deep squad," he told the club's AGM.

"We have consistently strengthened the squad in the last few seasons to compete for the Premier League. We have invested record sums in the last few seasons, we are disciplined in strategy, it is talent not money led."

Arsenal, who have not lifted the Premier League trophy since 2004, have won the FA Cup in the past two campaigns.
