Mikel Arteta refuses to confirm that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Thomas Partey will be involved in Arsenal's Premier League clash with Liverpool.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has refused to confirm whether Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Thomas Partey will be involved in Saturday's Premier League clash with Liverpool.

Aubameyang handed Arsenal an injury scare after leaving the field on a stretcher during Gabon's win over Libya and was not involved in the subsequent battle with Egypt.

Meanwhile, Partey's tight groin prevented him from linking up with the Ghana squad for November's World Cup qualifiers, and Arteta has remained coy over the pair's availability for the weekend.

"No it [Aubameyang's return] wasn't pre-planned. We had to assess him and see how he is and make decisions. We have a lot of players who have been through different game issues," Arteta told reporters at his press conference. "Let's see how everybody is. We have to see them today before assessing and seeing how everybody is."

When asked about Partey's fitness, Arteta added: "He couldn't play for the national team. He really tried to do that and pushed for that one but wasn't enough. Again that's something we have to assess because until today he hasn't done enough."

The Gunners - who are definitely without Sead Kolasinac and Granit Xhaka - can leapfrog Liverpool into fourth in the table with all three points at Anfield.
