World number seven Tomas Berdych has been knocked out of Wimbledon by Ernests Gulbis in what has been the biggest shock of the opening day at SW19.
In a match of very few breaks of serve, Latvia's Gulbis emerged victorious from three successive tie-breakers.
The first two Gulbis took control of early on with a mini-break before going on to win 7-5 7-4 respectively.
It looked as though number six seed Berdych was going to force a fourth set when he claimed the break in third breaker to open up a 4-3 advantage.
However, Gulbis responded to win the next four points to book his place in round two of the competition.
Berdych is a former Wimbledon finalist from 2010.
