Sabine Lisicki sees off Elena Vesnina

Germany's Sabine Lisicki is through to the third round at Wimbledon by beating Elena Vesnina in straight sets.

Germany's Sabine Lisicki has defeated Elena Vesnina in straight sets to progress to the third round at Wimbledon.

The number 23 seed was always in control against her Russian opponent and eventually sealed a 6-3 6-1 triumph.

The two players traded breaks in the first set, before Lisicki struck again to take the opener in 34 minutes.

Lisicki secured the break at the beginning of the second set to open up a 2-0 advantage, before taking advantage of her opponent's weak serve once more to move two games away from the last 32.

Vesnina continued to fight but had no answer to the quality of Lisicki's play, and the German quickly ascertained her spot in the next round.
