Kyle Edmund loses to Novak Djokovic at US Open

World number one Novak Djokovic records a 6-2 6-1 6-4 victory over Great Britain's Kyle Edmund in the fourth round of the US Open.

Kyle Edmund's run at the 2016 US Open is over after world number one Novak Djokovic recorded a 6-2 6-1 6-4 victory in their fourth-round clash in New York on Sunday night.

Edmund had beaten two seeds to reach the round of 16 of a Grand Slam for the first time, but the 21-year-old had no answer to the class of Djokovic, who completed a match for just the second time in this year's competition.

It was a routine first set for Djokovic, who secured two breaks on his way to moving ahead in the match, before winning the second set 6-1 courtesy of three breaks, two of which allowed the Serbian to take a 4-0 lead.

Edmund secured two breaks of his own in the third and what proved to be final set, but Djokovic broke three times, including at 4-5 to march into the quarter-finals once again.

The defending champion will take on France's Jo-Wilfried Tsonga for a place in the semi-finals.
