British number one Andy Murray believes that his walkover into the third round of the Shanghai Masters could be a "bad thing".
The 25-year-old, who is defending his title in China, was put straight through to the next round after today's opponent Florian Mayer withdrew from the clash with an injury, which means that the Scot has yet to play a game in the tournament.
"You never know whether it's a good or a bad thing, but sometimes it happens," BBC Sport quotes Murray as saying.
"You just need to make sure you do enough prep, stay sharp today and hopefully come out playing well tomorrow. Whoever I play now will have played two matches in these conditions. It may take a little while for me to adjust so I need to make sure I'm patient."
Murray will play the winner of the match between Alexandr Dolgopolov and Gilles Simon.
