World number nine Richard Gasquet has been knocked out of the Madrid Masters by Daniel Gimeno-Traver, who recorded a 7-5 3-6 6-4 win over the Frenchman this afternoon.
It proved to be a match where three breaks of serve were decisive, with the opening set going to Gimeno-Traver, having made early inroads on Gasquet's serve.
He responded in the second set, though, and broke midway through it, before holding all of his service games to secure a deciding third set.
That went the way of Spain's Gimeno-Traver and he will now face either John Isner or Pablo Andujar for a place in round four of the competition.
