Jeremy Chardy hails improved Andy Murray ahead of French Open clash

Andy Murray has become a top clay-court player, according to his French Open opponent Jeremy Chardy.

Frenchman Jeremy Chardy has admitted that he expects a "really tough match" against Andy Murray in the French Open tomorrow.

The pair will meet for the second time in a month when they play for a spot in the quarter-finals, and Chardy insisted that the British player is much improved on clay.

He told reporters: "He's so confident, he didn't lose a match on clay. I played against him in Rome. I played a good match, but still I lost 6-4 6-3. After he beat me, he pulled out from Rome to be fresh for Roland Garros, and I think for him it's a big goal.

"So it will be a really tough match. In the past we always said 'Andy doesn't like to play on clay', but now I think everybody changed and he likes more now to play on clay."

The winner of the tie will play either David Ferrer or Marin Cilic in the next round.
