Roger Federer has progressed to the final of the ATP World Tour Finals after a straight-sets victory over David Ferrer this afternoon.
The 16-time Grand Slam champion was favoured in the schedule as Ferrer had to come through a three-set defeat to Tomas Berdych last night.
The extra day's rest seemed to favour the Swiss over the course of the match as, after a tight first set, he eased to victory in the second.
Ferrer threatened to upset the odds in the tenth game of the opening set when he pushed Federer to multiple deuces on his serve which he eventually held on to.
This seemed to deflate the Spanish world number five and Federer went on to break in the next game before taking the set 7-5.
Federer broke in the first and last games of the second set as he continued his fine form to close out the match 6-3.
The win sees Federer reach his 100th career final and also means he retakes third place in the world rankings from Andy Murray.
His opponent for Sunday's final will be decided when Tomas Berdych faces Jo-Wilfried Tsonga this evening.
